Albanian (along with the Basque and Georgian), is the oldest uninfluenced language in Europe.
It is ancient country and ancient culture,
isolated by it’s location, by politics, and it has influence the Greek
music, Turkish music, Bulgarian music…
Albanian music it
has some influence, but the scales, the tones, the texture, is quite
unique. I was astounded when I heard it for the first time…
While I listen to
this music, surrounded by mountains, by the flags… and all these
people, their wonderful costumes hanging out around the stage… it was
absolutely one of the most wonderful experiences in my life.” –
